Miss Hawaii owes a great deal of its success to the efforts and generosity of its major sponsors. Miss Hawaii has become the most prestigious program of its kind in the state, enlisting monetary, in kind and moral support for its efforts. We appreciate those individuals and businesses that have so kindly supported us in 2008.

The Miss Hawaii Organization has supported the advancement of Hawaii's young women for more than 60 years. Our organization's mission is to promote the pursuit of higher education, to develop and maintain a commitment off community service and to inspire our youth to meet the challenge of being the best that they can be. Miss Hawaii is part of the Miss America Organization, an organization that awards more than $45 million dollars in scholarships nationally to young women between the ages of 17-24. This year, the Miss Hawaii program will make available over $500,000 in cash scholarships and tuition grants. Unlike any other program of its kind, Miss Hawaii requires each contestant to represent a platform for which she would serve as an advocate during her year of service. Whether it is the promotion of Youth Leadership, AIDS Awareness, Mentoring or the Children's Miracle Network, Miss Hawaii is committed to affecting positive change in her community. In a society of so many distractions competing for our youth's attention, our program builds self confidence, a better awareness of the issues of our community, and nation; and, allows for each young lady who participates the opportunity to challenge herself through competition. Our organization is volunteer based and could not accomplish much without the support of generous individuals and businesses such as those listed above. We are also grateful to the follow Miss Hawaii state committee members and friends who have worked so hard in securing the required funding that allows Miss Hawaii to enrich so many young women each year: Bonnie Parsons, Vince & Michelle Souza, Larry Nakano, Billie Lueder, Jen-L Lyman, Jon Paul Akeo, Dennis Momyer, Debbie Nakanelua-Richards, Thom McGarvey and Ryan Brown.
